A discussion of the role of Chinese Medicine in the modern health care system
Lotz, Joshua

2008, Master of Arts, Ohio State University, East Asian Languages and Literatures.
In recent years there has been an increasing interest in Chinese Medicine as a method of disease treatment and prevention for patients outside of China. This increased interest has in turn raised many questions relating to the efficacy, safety and regulation of Chinese Medicine in countries outside of China. This thesis examines the major differences between Chinese Medicine and conventional biomedicine, examines whether or not Chinese Medicine is a "science" and suggests several roles that Chinese Medicine can play in the modern medical system dominated by "scientific" biomedicine.
