A young adult alternate universe, Peter Pan origin story. Following the death of sister, Jayne, Peter invites Gale to the Paracosm. He hopes to give her a distraction from her sorrow by means of a vacation in a world created by their dreams. All the while, Gale hides a secret: she suffers from the same depression that killed her sister.

The novels intention is to show that a young adult novel is capable of substantive literary content. To achieve this, this thesis considers the themes of Peter Pan and young adult literature. Additionally, it analyzes women of the genre and brings them to the forefront of the novel.
