Vision impairment has a significant impact on the quality of life. It is important to assess the burden of vision impairment and its associated factors. This helps to formulate effective interventions for its prevention and provide targeted assistance. This study aimed to identify the prevalence of vision impairment and its correlates among middle-aged and older Jirels, an indigenous group of people living in the rural part of Nepal. The data source for this study was Jiri Eye Study. The analytical sample size for this study is 1,054. Univariate, bivariate, and binary logistic regression techniques were used. About 24% of the participants had vision impairment. Age, gender, education, occupation, drinking status, and body mass index were all independently associated with vision impairment in the current study. Future studies examining the correlation of eye conditions and systemic conditions like diabetes and stroke with vision impairment should be carried out. Findings from this study could be used to bring eye health programs to reduce the burden of vision impairment in this indigenous group of people.
