Abstract
The purpose of this study was to examine the correlation between ACT scores and GPA’s of private and non-private or public high school seniors that applied for admission to Marietta College. The researcher used data from applicants for the Fall 2005 semester. The data was retrieved from the current database system in use by the college. The researcher compared the ACT scores and grade point averages of 80 private school students and 80 non-private or public school students in the effort to conclude that private school students would have a high test score and a low grade point average while public school students would have a high GPA and lower test score. The study concluded that a slight correlation existed between GPA and ACT scores of private and non-private applicants.
