▼ Purpose: To determine if a relationship exists between the self-reported dental health (DH) of homeless men who seek treatment at a nurse-run clinic and their self-reported physical health (PH) and nutrition (NT). Design: Nonexperimental descriptive secondary analysis. Data set was from a convenience sample of adult homeless men who sought treatment at a nurse-run clinic between October 2004 and April 2005. Methods: 52 participants completed a modified version of The Greater Cincinnati Health Status Survey. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, t tests, and Mann-Whitney U tests. Findings: Participants that reported poorer DH were more likely to report poorer PH and NT. Although not significant, evidence shows an interrelationship between DH, PH, and NT in the framework. From the population, 73% reported poorer DH, 35% reported poorer PH, and 42% reported poorer NT. Conclusions: A high percentage of participants in this study reported poor dental health, physical health, and nutrition. Programs should be developed that aim at reducing disease in this population.
