▼ The purpose of this study was to determine the role of expectations, self-efficacy, self-efficacy to overcome barriers, self-control, and social support as predictors of exercise among South Asian college students enrolled in two large public universities in Ohio. A sample of 58 students of South Asian descent enrolled at two Midwestern universities in Ohio completed a 55 item valid and reliable web-based survey assessing their level of exercise, expectations, self-efficacy to participate in exercise, self-efficacy to overcome barriers, self-control, and social support. Regression analyses were done to test for variance in exercise behavior attributable to each of the five independent variables. The results of this regression model showed that only self-efficacy was predictive of exercise behavior (R2=0.082). Recommendations for future research into the predictors of exercise among this population have been offered.
